Digital Design Engineer - Aerospace & Defense Applications

Job Description: Seeking an intelligent and versatile Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in digital/analog hardware with emphasis on high-speed data conversion, FPGA and Microprocessor, and DC power regulation and distribution systems. Working knowledge of implementing state of the art Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADC) and Digital-to Analog Converters (DAC) in conjunction with highly sophisticated all programmable SoC devices utilizing high-speed interfaces such as JESD204B. Work closely with internal team members to architect and design control systems pertaining to Microwave and Millimeter Wave development programs covering a range of commercial, military, and aerospace applications. Create and release engineering documents and provide technical support to sales and customers. The role may include collaboration with design teams at other ADI sites and possibly also with customers, either of which may require occasional travel.   Principal Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: Collaborate on architecture, top level, and block level definition of complex control and DC power regulation systems. Design of analog/digitalcircuits utilizing FPGA, SoC, Embedded Processors, high-speed data converters and DDR memory. Effectively implement cutting edge high sample rate data converter technology in conjunction with industry-leading SoC and FPGA devices to facilitate a complete antenna-to-bits solution for RF applications. Design DC Power conditioning, management, and sequencing circuits. FPGA coding utilizing VHDL/Verilog HDL implementing custom control interfaces, DSP algorithms, and memory interfaces. Test-bench generation, simulation, compilation and timing closure. Work closely with PCB designers to specify PCB design rules, component placement, and power plane distribution. Perform PCB signal/power integrity, crosstalk, and timing analysis. Analog circuit simulation. Participate in internal and external design reviews Hardware test, debug, and validation. Proposal research, preparation and presentation for both internal and external design reviews. Qualifications: BSEE, MSEE preferred, with 6+ years of digital/analog design experience, and power management design and integration. Must have knowledge and/or experience in: Digital Design, Analog Design, FPGA and SoC Design, Digital Signal Processing, and Data Conversion. Proficiency with the use of high sample rate ADC/DACs and a working knowledge of their associated terminology and critical design parameters and how they affect system performance. Experience with the successful implementation of the JESD204B IP core and physical interface is desirable. Familiarity with Modelsim, DxDesigner, Xilinx ISE/Vivado, Hyperlinx, Spice simulators, and PADs CAD tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
