4K a year Patient Service Representative Massachusetts Eye Associates Tewksbury Job title Patient Service Representative - Front Desk Reports to Patient Service Manager Summary of Responsibilities Responsible for registering patients, monitoring referrals, collecting copays and scheduling appointments.
This position is primarily in our Tewksbury location but may require travel to Chelmsford or Lowell on occassion.
List of Responsibilities/Duties Registers patients by gathering, verifying and entering in demographic and insurance information.
Obtains signed registration sheets, permissions to file claims, releases, etc.
Reviews schedules for referrals needed, obtains those that the office takes responsibility for and works with patients to obtain others.
Collects copayments, personal payments, and issues proper receipts.
Prepares day sheet and balances cash drawer each day.
Handles inquiries about insurances accepted, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, doctor information, etc.
Schedules patient appointments and verifies previously scheduled appointments.
Maintains personal reference book on insurance companies and coverages.
Assists other patient service staff as needed.
Greets patients promptly and professionally.
Properly triages patients and visitors.
Responds easily to routine requests for information.
Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and communicates with the compliance officer regarding procedural changes and concerns.
Participates in professional development efforts to remain current on insurance coverages and regulation matters.
Cooperates and communicates with all staff members and physicians about patient matters.
Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
Minimum Education Requirements High school diploma or GED.
Proper spelling, alphabetization, and mathematic skills are a must.
Minimum Background Requirements Three years of work experience.
Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
) Bilingual is a plus but not required Minimum Demonstrated Skills Requires accuracy, thoroughness and an understanding of insurance, copay and referral procedures.
Requires ability to work as a team member.
Work is fast paced and multitasked.
Requires skilled use of fax and copier machines, word processing software and general computer operating skills.
Physical Demands Must be able to communicate effectively both in-person and on the telephone.
Must be able to accurately process and enter data into the appropriate computer software.
Must have a work history that demonstrates an effective work ethic Massachusetts Eye Associates is a mid-size general ophthalmology practice with an extended history in the community.
